About DBLL

Diamondback Little League (DBLL) is a chartered Little League serving your North Phoenix community. Our home fields are located at Echo Mountain Elementary School on the corner of 18th Street and Grovers Avenue, between Bell and Union Hills.

Each year we have over 150 boys and girls who play Little League baseball in several different divisions. The divisions for age 12 and under are T-ball/Coach Pitch, Farm (machine pitch), Minors, and Majors. We also have Junior, Senior, and Big League divisions for 13-18 year olds.

DBLL shares the same mission as Little League Baseball:  "to promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in Little League baseball."

DBLL believes, as does Little League Baseball, that the players will develop "the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being." Little League Baseball places a higher priority on developing superior citizens than it does superior athletes.

DBLL operates two seasons each year -- Spring and Fall.

  • Spring season practices and evaluations begin in late January, and games are played through the end of May.
  • Fall season is a training and development season geared toward instruction, and the season starts in September and ends in November.
At this point, we had hoped that there would be more clarity surrounding the COVID-19 situation and when it will be safe to resume play. Unfortunately, there is not. Therefore, we have made the decision to move the DBLL Spring 2020 Season to the fall. This will give our board time to plan and prepare so that when your child returns in the fall, all necessary steps have been taken to ensure the safety of your player, our coaches and the spectators. Obviously, there will be a lot of planning involved and we hope that there will be a notable downward trend of the COVID-19 virus before then. We will continue to monitor the situation in the meantime and make any necessary changes in our planning. Given the heat of the upcoming summer months and the need for our kids to slowly integrate themselves back into the school setting with their peers, we feel that this decision is in the best interest of everyone.

At this time, our plan is to resume play after Labor Day with games to start in late September. All teams will remain the same and, for the upper divisions, we are hoping to reinstate end-of the-season tournament play with our neighboring leagues, presumably sometime in late November/ early December. Moving the spring season to the fall will enable players to remain in their current division versus having to move up according to next year’s age chart.

We miss baseball and we miss our kids! We will be looking forward to the time we can reunite on the baseball field. In the meantime, please stay safe. We will continue to update you over the next few months as new information becomes available or as plans develop. We sincerely appreciate your patience with our league while we navigate these difficult waters. Our board is made up of less than 10 members, also with families and jobs affected by this pandemic, and we have been working to get information to our league in a timely fashion while waiting for information and recommendations to be released from Little League International, the Governor and our District Administrator.
